So many new things!

We have had quite the last couple of weeks here at the Mayzie Smieja household! We had Auntie Denise and her puppy Lily here for a whole week to visit. While they were here we went out for dinner, went to the beach, and watched the dogs play A LOT. After they left the roofers came to put a new roof on our house and Lacey and Mayzie made a day trip to the beach to get out of the noisy house for a while. Yesterday we had another guest arrive... Grandma Smieja is here! Well, the excitement has been tempered so far because Mayzie has not be very happy this morning. She's a little tired.

But enough chit chat, on to the big news!

We have officially started to eat some real food... if you consider finely ground oatmeal mixed up with some breast milk real food. The video is not her first try, but it is a much better video than I got the first time when she was crying and sitting in the chair that is still way too big for her.

Makin' a mess

Our first attempt... the chair is a little too big for her.

Last Sunday, less than 8 hours after her Auntie Denise left, Mayzie decided she would roll over the first time. Mayzie was laying in one of her two favorite places kicking and smiling when she decided it was time she got herself on her tummy. Two things about that story I find funny:

  1. That favorite place to lay is the dining room table. The other favorite is her changing pad in her bedroom.
  2. She rolled from her back to her tummy, even though she really doesn't like being on her tummy very much. She quickly got frustrated and we had to roll her back over.
I would post the very cute video of her first roll over, but we didn't film it. :( Below is my interpretation of what happened though, sort of skipping the intermediate steps. :)

Anyway, Mayzie has not rolled over since. I think she remembers how frustrating it was to end up on her belly and not be able to turn over. So, we'll see if we can get her to do it again and get a video that's even better than the pictures above.

Well, only a few short days after that first roll over we got our first real laughs. Turns out all it took was a huge bout of hiccups from her Daddy and she was giggling like crazy.

And of course I can't put up a new blog post without adding some pictures. Happy 5th of July!

Always loving kicking on her play mat

Look at how strong she is!
