At the request of my Uncle (and Godfather) Mark, I thought it would be a fun idea to update you all about some of the great campsites we've stayed at throughout the first month of our trip.
The first great campsite we found was in the National Forest outside Grand Canyon at a campground (CG) called TenX. The site was great, the bathrooms were clean, and the picnic table was nice. Best of all, the site only cost $10.

The next great campsite we had was at Fern Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. We backpacked in about 5 miles to get to it, so it's a good thing it was acceptable :) Lacey looks pretty miserable in one of these pictures, but that's not because the campsite sucked, it's because she had pretty bad altitude sickness.

We had a couple sketchy campsites between Rocky Mountain and Canyonlands, but this one was great! On our way to Canyonlands National Park, late in the afternoon and with no reservation to camp, we thought we might have to sleep in the car. Luckily for us we stumbled across Horsethief Campground in the National Forest right outside the park. Great views and beautiful skies made this one of our favorite campsites yet. We even slept without the rain fly.

After Utah we made our way back to CA and found ourselves in Sequoia National Park. This was my third visit to this great park and, so far, I think it is my favorite. We got a campsite at Lodgepole Campground at site 69 (yeah, we thought it was funny too). It was a little uphill walk to the site from the car, but the scenery was great, and the black bear scares were only a small distraction.

Finally, we made it back to the coast to find the campsite with one of the best views in the World (at least we thought so). Kirk Creek Campground in Big Sur in set about 100 feet above the coast on the cliffs and has great views out over the ocean. A short hike brought us down to the rocky beach with its crashing waves. If not for the gross bathrooms and lack of suitable drinking water this would be our favorite campsite so far.

So we've had some great sites so far, but we're sure there's more to come as we head up the cost to Seattle and eventually across the top of the country back to MN. More posts to come later!
