Road Trip - Telluride and Arches NP

With no jobs and nowhere to call home it is easy to take side trips here and there. We decided to do just that by heading down to Telluride for a night. The San Juans are probably the most beautiful mountains I've ever seen, and seeing them from the North was awesome!

Telluride was a great little town. Everything is overpriced as with any mountain ski town, but the people were nice, and the Telluride Brewing Co. had some pretty good beers for us to drink. They are currently distributing their Rye Pale Ale around CO. If you are there, you should give it a try.

Anyway, enough about beer (although it may become an issue in Utah). We spent a (free) night in the Uncompaghre National Forest at a campground with 30+ sites and no one else there. I've been in the backcountry plenty of times, but that night was a little unnerving with all those empty campsites around us.

The next morning we got an early start and made our way West. We arrived at Arches NP to find that their campground is not (as our NP book states) first come, first served. So, we spent a couple hours searching for a campsite and finally found one. We got up into the park in the early evening, checked out some sites, and then hiked to the Delicate Arch for sunset. Arches is a pretty amazing and a definite place to see before you die. Again, this park does not have the best backcountry, but the Devil's Garden Hike was pretty awesome. Enjoy some pics!
