So I almost forgot to tell you all about one of the coolest parts of our Bryce Canyon hike! We saw a rattlesnake! Not the first one I've seen, but always an exciting encounter. He was definitely a little freaked out to see people and shook his rattle a couple times. He never coiled though, so that's a good sign.
As if the rattlesnake wasn't enough, we were joined for lunch by a very photogenic Stellar's Jay. He hopped around, checked us out, and spent about 10 minutes watching us eat before finally flying away.
We parted ways with Eric and headed to Henderson, NV. If you thought Las Vegas was classy, you have not experienced the splendor of Henderson! We stayed at the Fiesta Casino and Hotel, a "3 star" establishment that only charged us $35 for the night. There were times at that casino that I was afraid I would run into Nick Papageorgio from Vegas Vacation.
Anyway, we ate way too much at my first ever Vegas buffet, we gambled a bit (thumb's down), and had interesting night's sleep with an air conditioner that registered on the same decibel level as the Superdome in the playoffs.
Anyway, off to California to see some giant trees, some giant mountains, and some San Francisco! We'll keep you all posted, and we'd love to get some texts or emails from people to see how everyone is doing.
